The Nature Concept School

Shanti Ananda newsletter 6/2009

Dear friends, dear donors!

The following article was published on November 11th 2009 in the daily newspaper „Eenadu“ which is distributed in the whole Anantapur district. I think it is a good success for our social work in one of the poorest areas in South India.

But: the better quality in the school causes higher costs as well – our expenditures are no more covered by the regularly incoming donations. It would mean a precious help for us when more people could support us with donations. Every amount will help our students to grow into a good and happy future!

I wish you a merry Christmas and a good transfer into the next year 2010!

Your Helga Shanti Fründt

No boundary to Service

Establishment of English Medium School

She is not of our country. She does not know our language. She came here for a visit. Observing the miserable condition of the children in the rural areas she got a strong impulse to do something for them. On her way into this direction she established an English Medium school with high standards. She is imparting free education to poor students. She is none other than the German Helga Shanti.

An ideal German Lady Helga Shanti

Helga Shanti came to Puttaparthi to see Sri Bhagavan Sathya Sai Baba. She felt to help the rural poor children and adopted a private school in the mandal head quarter. Being a teacher she educates the children by giving training to the teachers on her own. She makes many efforts in her attempt to serve the poor children and is becoming an ideal to many.

Funds from Germany for Maintenance

Mme. Helga Shanti receives the donations from Germany by a few sponsors. She gives permission only to poor children in her school. Pupils are admitted on the base of the ration card. In present nearly two hundred pupils from LKG to VII. standard enjoy the the fruits of this free education. Furthermore the pupils are given school uniforms and books free of cost. The eligibility for the admission to the school is their poverty, says Mme. Helga Shanti.

Education with high standards

High quality education is given to the pupils. Computer education is a part of the education. In her opinion it is not sufficent to have book knowledge and rote learning; instead of this the children should get education triggering their interest. She is imparting education with play way and project methods. She feels that we can educate the pupils in a better way with these methods.

Nature school in Future

Helga Shanti: “There is no use to receive education within the four walls only. The children should become one with nature for their all sided development. We plan to start a nature school – in some distance from the air pollution. It will resemble an “Ashram patashala” of ancient times. It will be good if the government provides us with the needed land. The rest will be arranged by us. Man can live happily only when there is peace in him. We educate our children to live in peace, harmony and non violence instead of anger and hatred.”
