New Account for foreign donations to India!

From April 1st, 2021, Donations from abroad must be transferred to our new FCRA account at the State Bank of India (SBI).

Foreign donations only can be given to Indian NGOs with an SBI, State Bank of India account.

Please think of changing your banker's order accordingly.
Most important innovations:

  1. Only 20% (previously 50%) of foreign donations may be used for administrative purposes (including salaries)
  2. Public servants may no longer be employed
  3. Funds transfers to other organizations are not permitted.
The government wants to improve transparency, promote real NGOs and prevent abuse; the conditions have been tightened considerably in recent years, giving rise to some criticism as well.

More information can be found on the website of the Centre For Advancement of Philanthropy and at Council on Foundations.
