Newsletter 1/2020

Students' feeding after Saraswathi Pooja

Dear human fellow-being!

A lot has happened since the last newsletter: project week, cultural event, mini project week and more ... Since these events are part of our regular program and there is a lot of material on the website, I only point out here.

Two weeks after the traditional Saraswathi-Pooja (March 13th) and four weeks before the summer holidays, our school was closed within the India-wide lockdown. The Academic Year 2020/21 will start only on August 3rd instead of June 12th. This means that almost a quarter of the teaching time has been lost.

In India an exit ban / curfew had been decided by the Government (not 'only' restrictions as in Germany). Buses and trains did not run, shops were only open from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. 'Red Zones' have been completely sealed off. Meanwhile there are relaxations of measures; and on May 31st the lockdown in this area should be ended. But in some other areas (Mumbai, Chennai) the lockdown will continue...

Headmaster Raja Sekhar stitching masks

Headmaster Raja Sekhar - once again - socially committed and proactively stitched masks that were distributed to needy ones in Mudigubba. In doing so, he made a valuable contribution to peaceful coexistence in the community.

Teachers singing

The psychological virus (fear) is usually more contagious than the physical one. In order to ground ourselves and generate strengthening energies for the time of 'house arrest', we sang a powerful Red Indian song together before school closed.

Mother I feel you under my feet...

The teaching staff met last week to plan the new Academic Year. Everyone is relying on the fact that we continue creating a positive timeline with the Shanti Ananda School - by meeting the children with love and appreciation and enabling them to have diverse experiences. We very much hope that in the new school year it will be possible to fully practice our proven pedagogy.

Thank you for your interest, your sympathy and your support!

With cordial greetings,

Helga Shanti Fruendt
